Problem gambling is an issue that could be prevented by comprehensive information and sustainable gaming habits players consciously develop and work on. British Columbia Lottery Corporation is willing to offer its casino patrons a wide array of resources thanks to its GameSense special zones. This week marked the completion of its expansion program, introducing GameSense advisors to every casino venue and community gaming center across British Columbia.

Over the past twelve months, the provincial Crown corporation overseeing gaming and lottery offerings has been working on the second phase of its GameSense Advisor program. Striving to bring British Columbian players closer to all the resources they need for battling problematic gaming habits, British Columbia Lottery Corporation introduced the special zones to even more gaming locations.

Community Gaming Centers Welcome Advisors

The first phase of this program included casino venues overseen by the Crown corporation only. This included a total of 17 casinos to the likes of Cascades Casino Kamloops, Cascades Casino Penticton, and Playtime Casino Kelowna, among others. In addition to those, problem gambling battle was supposed to extend even further and cover the 18 Community Gaming Centers sprinkled across the province.

This second phase of the problem gambling program has seen its official completion as of recently, making it possible for more local players to reach out for help and keep their gambling habits in check. British Columbia Lottery Corporation considers a gaming venue the best place for a casino patron to seek help with their gaming activities taking place on a regular basis.

If one worries that gambling might be taking more and more of their time, they could engage in a frank conversation with the GameSense advisor available on the premises of their local venue. The ultimate goal of this program is to normalize gambling addiction conversation while removing the stigma around it, as something shameful that should not be discussed in public. Over the span of this program, some 67,000 interactions have taken place.

Interactions Progressively Grow

Local players are willing to learn more about the impact of unhealthy gaming habits since being proactive could prevent things from spiraling out of their control. The advisors present in the special areas also have the resources to refer players to the special help they might need, such as more comprehensive problem gambling programs offered by the province.

British Columbia Attorney-General David Eby said that local players now have everything they need for maintaining their gaming habits within the healthy range, as the major investment aims to achieve that. It brings the experts closer to the people, right at their local gaming facilities, regardless of their size and casino operator overseeing them.

One of the most recent locations to welcome the special area was Chances Salmon Arm mid-October. Players hailing from Salmon Arm and neighboring communities have already been seeking advice from the two individuals present on the premises of the gaming location. Those are Melodie Greco and Jamie Ferguson. This year saw GameSense launch at Chances Maple Ridge, Chances Campbell River, and Chances Fort St. John.
